Belize Theological Seminary began in 2025 as a ministry of Tate Springs Baptist Church located in Arlington, Texas. This effort was shaped by years of ministry and careful listening in Belize.

Pastors and Bible teachers consistently shared the same challenge. Theological training often required leaving the country, learning a new language, or stepping away from family and church. While education was valued, the cost to local congregations and homes was high. Churches felt the absence of their leaders and families bore the weight of extended separation.

As these realities became clear, a simple conviction emerged. Pastors did not need to leave their churches to be equipped for them. Theological education needed to be brought to Belize, rooted in the life of the local church and accessible to those already serving.

In response, Belize Theological Seminary was launched with a focused mission: equipping pastors and Bible teachers in Belize with local, affordable (free!) theological training so they can remain in their churches and faithfully preach and teach God’s Word.

By forming leaders where they serve, the seminary seeks to strengthen churches, support families, and foster faithful, Scripture-shaped ministry for the long good of the church in Belize.
